SUMMARY
OF JULY 17, 2017, MEETING WITH NORTHERN STATES POWER COMPANY, DOING BUSINESS AS XCEL ENERGY, ON POTENTIAL LICENSE AMENDMENT REQUEST RELATED TO HEAVY LIFTING DEVICES AT PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT (CAC NOS. MF9893 AND MF9894)
On July 17, 2017, a Category 1 public teleconference was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Northern States Power Company (the licensee), a Minnesota Corporation, doing business as Xcel Energy at NRC Headquarters. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss a potential license amendment request (LAR) related to heavy lifting devices. The meeting notice and agenda, dated July 3, 2017, are available in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) at Accession No. ML17184A164. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1.
The licensee presented information (ADAMS Accession No. ML17198A263) related to the potential LAR. The licensee presented the requirements related to the planned LAR as well as the scope of the request. The licensee also presented the planned schedule for submitting the request.
The NRC staff queried the licensee about any indications from past inspections of the devices within the scope of the amendment request. The licensee stated that no indications were related to fatigue and that the details of past inspections will be included in the request.
