ERRATA TO PERRY NUCLEAR POWER PLANT NRC INTEGRATED REPORT 05000440/2008004

Dear Mr. Bezilla:

On October 27, 2008, the U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) issued the Integrated Inspection Report 05000440/2008004 (ML# 083010454) for Perry Nuclear Plant. The report was issued with the incorrect Performance Indicator Verification. The correct Performance Indicator Verified is Unplanned Transients.

Attached is a corrected page 24 of the Inspection Report. Please insert the enclosed page 24 to replace the current page 24 in Inspection Report 05000440/2008004. Please remove the original page 24 and discard.

.6 Radiation Protection Technician Proficiency a. Inspection Scope The inspectors reviewed radiological problem reports for which the cause of the event was radiation protection technician error to determine if there was an observable pattern traceable to a similar cause and to determine if this perspective matched the corrective action approach taken by the licensee to resolve the reported problems.

This inspection constitutes one sample as defined in IP 71121.01-5.

b. Findings No findings of significance were identified.

4. OTHER ACTIVITIES 4OA1 Performance Indicator Verification (71151)

.3 Unplanned Transients per 7000 Critical Hours a. Inspection Scope The inspectors sampled licensee submittals for the Unplanned Transients per 7000 Critical Hours PI for the period from 3rd quarter 2007 through the 2nd quarter 2008. To determine the accuracy of the PI data reported during those periods, PI definitions and guidance contained in the NEI 99-02, Regulatory Assessment PI Guideline, Revision 5, was used. The inspectors reviewed the licensees operator narrative logs, issue reports, event reports and NRC inspection reports for the period of 3rd quarter 2007 through the 2nd quarter 2008 to validate the accuracy of the submittals. The inspectors also reviewed the licensees issue report database to determine if any problems had been identified with the PI data collected or transmitted for this indicator. Documents reviewed are listed in the Attachment to this report.

This inspection constituted one sample for unplanned transients per 7000 critical hours as defined in IP 71151-05.

b. Findings No findings of significance were identified.

Inspection Scope The inspectors sampled licensee submittals for the Safety System Functional Failures PI for the period from the 3rd quarter 2007 through the 2nd quarter 2008.
