Limerick Generating Station, Unita 1 and 2 Withdrawal of Technical Specificationn Change Requent to Reduce the Frequency for Performing Source Range Monitor Channel Functional Testing Gentlemen:
Ily letter dated January 31, 1991, we submitted Technical Specificationn (TS) Change Requent No. 90-17-0 proponing a change to the Limerick Generating Station, Unita 1 and 2 TS to reduce the !requency for performing Source Range Monitor (SRM) channel functional testing. Specifically, TS Change Requent No. 90-17-0 requented that the frequency for performing SRM channe]
functional tents be reduced by eliminating TS Surveillance l Requirement (SR) 4.9.2.b.1, requiring channel functional tents within twenty-four (24) hourn prior to the start of core alterations, while retaining the existing SR to perform the name tent at least once per neven (7) dayn.
The NRC'u position regarding TS change requent applications, an documenteu in an internal memorandum dated February 14, 1991, in that if a proposed TS change: 1) in included in the New Improved Standard TS; 2) in not a line item improvement; 3) atid does not meet certain exception criteria, the application nhould be denied. Therefore, thin letter withdrawn our Application for Amendment to Facility Operating Licenno 1100. !1PF-39 and !JPF-85, dated January 31, 1991, concerning the reduction in SR!i channel functional tenting.
