By letter dated October 25,1982,(OCAN108221) NRC transmitted a " Notice of Deviation" relative to NUREG 0737, " Clarification of TMI Action Plan Requirements",

Item II.B.2, " Design Review of Plant Shielding and Environmental Qualification of Equipment for Spaces / Systems." Prior to receipt of the " Notice of Deviation", this issue had been investigated by AP&L and addressed by our letter of September 29,1.982,(0CAN098219) from Mr. J. R. Marshall to Mr. W.

C. Seidle. As agreed upon with members of your staff, this letter was referenced in our formal response to the " Notice of Deviation" transmitted via letter dated November 24,1982,('0CAN118221) from Marshall to Seidle.

In a subsequent telephone call with Mr. Bill Johnson of your staff, AP&L was requested to provide a status of committents contained in our [[letter::0CAN098210, Suppl 820802 Response to IE Bulletin 82-02, Degradation of Threaded Fasteners in RCPB of PWR Plants. Bolted Closure Leaks Not Complete. Results of Review Will Be Provided by 821108|September 29, 1982, letter]] contained two specific commitments. First, AP&L committed to consider plant modifications during the current refueling outage to divert reactor coolant pump seal return to the quench tank to allow isolation of the seal return line without affecting seal reliability.

A Design Change Package (DCP 81-1066) to accomplish this modification has been approved for installation during the current outage. Barring unexpected difficulties, this modification will be completed as scheduled.

should be added. This review was corpleted on October 14, 1982. The review concluded that no additional rodifications, beyond those made by the
