AP&L's updated Second Ten-Year Pump and Valve Inservice Testing (IST)
Prograrr for Arkansas Nuclear One - Unit 1 (ANO-1) is attached for your teview. AP&L had originally submitted the IST Program in March of 1985 (ICAN038504). In November, 1987 a working meeting was held at the ANO-1 plant site tu aen AP&L and the NRC to discuss the submittal and answer questions t L arose during the review of the submittal. During the meeting, each question was discussed and a response / resolution obtained for all questions. Both the NRC and AP&L came away from the meeting with open items that required resolution to complete the response. Completion of the NRC's open items has been received by letter dated June 15, 1988 (1CNA068802). AP&L's completion of open items are contained in the updated IST Program Suhmittal.
AP&L is currently utilizing the Second Ten-Year IST Program for examinations being conducted this refueling. The eighth refueling outage (IR8) began on August 27, 1988 and is scheduled to be completed in early November.
It is AP&L's unJerstanding that the NRC staff is currently developing generic guidarice for future IST examinations. Further, it is our understanding that our Second Ten-Year IST Program for the most part 8911020209 881020 PDR '0 P
