Dear Mr. Reid:

l By letter dated September 30,1997, you informed the NRC of your activities regarding reactor i vessel intemals planned for the 1998 and 1999 refueling outages. Our review of your plans is  !

documented in the enclosed evaluation.

We have concluded that your proposed actions, as described in the enclosed evaluation, are acceptable. However, we are currently reviewing several boiling water reactor vessel and intemal project (BWRVIP) documents and although we have not identified any major deficiencies in the BWRVIP's technical documents, neither have we made a determination as to their overall ,

acceptability. Therefore,if concems are identified during the review of these BWRVIP reports, (

and you follow the BWRVIP guidance, we may request that you address the concerns on a plant-  !
