Dear Mr. Wanczyk :
On April 23,199C the NRC's ODce of Investigations (01), Region i Field Office, initiated an investigation to determine whether a Williams Power Corporation (WPC) employee, working at the Vermont Yankee (VY) Nuclear Power Station, had been threatened and 1
l eventually fired in April 1998, as a result of raising safety concerns to WPC and VY management regarding sandblasting activities in the torus Based on the evidence developed during the investigation, the NRC could not substantiate that the employee was discriminated against as a result of raising safety concerns to WPC and VY management regarding work in the torus. The 01 investigation, documented in 01 Report No. 1-98-019, was completed on February 23,1999. A copy of the synopsis of the Ol report is enclosed.
