VERMONT YANKEE NUCLEAR POWER STATION - ISSUANCE OF AMENDMENT RE: ATWS RULE STANDBY LIQUID CONTROL SYSTEM (TAC NO. MA5288)

Dear Mr. Wanczyk:

The Commission has issued the enclosed Amendment No. 175 to Facility Operating License l DPR-28 for the Vermont Yankee Nuclear Power Station, in response to your application dated i May 5,1999.

The amendment revises tbe technical specifications (TSs) to enhance the limiting conditions for operation and surveillance requirements relating to the standby liquid control system and incorporate certain provisions of NRC's rule on anticipated transients w!!hout scram. The change involves the use of enriched boron in the standby liquid control system and improves upon other aspects of the TSs for this system.

A copy of the relate'd Safety Evaluation is also enclosed. Notice of issuance will be included in the Commission's biweekly Federal Reaister notice.
