SUBJECT: CORRECTIONS TO INSPECTION REPORT 50-341/98015(DRP)

Dear Mr. Gipson:

On December 7,1998, the NRC issued Inspection Report 50-341/98015. In Section 01.1 and

in the executive summary of the report, it was reported that a fire existed in an emergency

diesel generator control panel when, in fact, only smoke had been seen coming from the panel.

Further, in Section M3.1 and in the executive summary, it was incorrectly documented that

loose intemal sleeving on a turbine control valve caused power oscillations greater than

10 percent during plant operation when, in fact, worn threads in a tongue block used to engage

the valve spindle caused power fluctuations of less than 10 percent during plant operation.

Finally, in Section E2.1 and in the executive summary, it was incorrectly reported that the scoop l

tube was locked when the unit was returned to service when, in fact, it was unlocked during

plant restart but was returned to the locked position shortly after restart. We are enclosing

corrected sections of the report.  !

in accordance with 10 CFR 2.790 of the NRC's " Rules of Practice," a copy of this letter and its f

enclosure will be placed in the NRC Public Document Room. J
