SUBJECT: NRC ROUTINE RADIATION PROTECTION INSPECTION REPORT

50-341/99006(DRS)

Dear Mr. Gipson:

. On March 19,1999, the NRC completed an inspection at your Fermi 2 reactor facility. The

er. closed report presents the results of that inspection.

The inspection was an examination of activities conducted under your license as they relate to

radiation safety and to compliance with the Commission's rules and regulations and with the

c.onditions of your license. Specifically, the inspedion focused on aspects of your radioactive

effluent monitoring, liquid waste processing, engineered safety feature (ESP) filtration and

control room habitability and solid waste management and transportation programs. Withiri

these areas, the inspection consisted of a selective examination of procedures and

representative records, interviews with personnel, and observation of activities in progress.

Based on the results of this inspection, no violations of NRC requirements viere identified.

Our inspection concluded that your radioactive effluent monitoring programs were effective in

assessing arJ controlling off site dose. Radioactive effluent protection equipment was well ,

maintained. Radiation protection and system engineering personnel exhibited in-depth

knowledge of plant design and radiation protection issues at the site.
