August 1981 TECENICAL BULLETIN 9-9 Revision 2 65J-N TEHFE'ATURE RESIST.*.NT GROUT Ceilcote 658-N is a high temperature resistant, high strcngth epoxy grout. It was developed specifically to e'st the requirement of high strength a; high teeperatures including applications in the nuclear industry. 653-N Greut should be used for pressure injection grouting of base plates, hollow put; bases, and cracked concrete to fill, voids, cracks, and fissures. It has been tested at temperatures ranging from ambient to 350*F. in accordance with ASTM C-579 and Texas Utilities Services Specification, CP-EI-13.0-1 (" Procedure for Epoxy Grout Compressive Strength Test") and has been found to be sufficient for use both outside and inside containment areas. Testing temperatures were chosen to
- simulate potential base plate temperatures inside containment areas.
l (O) COMPRESSIVE PROPERTIES
- m T E?ERATURE COMPRES3IVE STRENGTH (PSI) 73'F. 15,600 125'F. 14,200 150'F. 13,800 200'F. 10,500 250*F. 6,150 300'F. 3,640 350'F. 2,620
- These results represent actual' test data from one batch of material and )
do not reflect batch-to-batch variations. The minimum ambient temperature compressive strength (rejection criteria) is 12,000 psi.
RADIATION TOLERANCE TEST Ceilcote 658-N Crout (tested with Ceilcote 650 aggre6 ate), was exposed to 2 x 10 rads of gamma radiation in air at a rate of 0.9 x 107 rada per hour at Oak Ridge National Laboratories, Oak Ridge Tennessee. The flexural strength and modulus (
of elasticity were tested before and af ter exposure with no apparent effects. l CURE TDfE VS. TEMPERATURE Temperature affects the working time and curing time of 658-N Grout. At 70'F.,
the grout has an approximate working time of \ hour. Warmer teeperature m il shorten this tima; cooler will lengthen. The foundation being grouted will probably be cooler.than room temperature unless the room temperatura has Sean
/
O s
constant for some time. Temperatures vary so radically (day vs. night, day vs.
day) that field judgement must be used as the final measurement of cure and working
(
V) time.

PLACDfD*f 658-N Grout should be placed by means of pressure injection. Holes should be drilled to intersect cracks and voids to be filled. For more information on pressure grouting techniques, refer to Bulletin 9-1.8-1 for 647 Repair Grout (do not use mixing information for 647 Perair creut).
If the packaged grout is above 90*F., chill the sealed pails of greut liquid in a tub of ice or cover the pails with water-soaked burlap. It is not necessary to cool the grout below 70*F. In cold weather, materials should ba store? in a warm place. Lov terperatures make the grout stif f and hard to hedle. For best handling properties, the intredients should la at 75'F. t 5'F.
MIXING INSTRt'CTIt '!S These proportions are supirseded by those on the package label if they differ.
One Unit Ng 658-N Grout Liquid 8 lbs.12 oz.
