' INADVERTENT REACTOR TRIP FROM 100% POWER

i Waterford '3 was tripped froin 100% power on December 6,1985, at 6:19 p.m. due to_ operator e' r ror. - The'~ operator caused the trip by incorrectly initiating the' 4 1 steps of_ surveillance tests on the control element assembly calculators and '

g> thus established the two of, four trip logic. The licensee has decided to

@ _ proceed,to cold shutdown to replace one or more reactor coolant pump seals and

.an RTD associated with the Core Protection Calculator. Shutdown is expected to

E last 6 to 10idays, depending on the number of seals replaced. This PN is
