HIGH VIBRATJ0N IN MAIN TURBINE The NRC resident inspector at Waterford 3 notified the Region IV office that at about 3:45 a.m. a high vibration was detected on the main turbine. The vibrations appear to be in the vicinity of the generator end of the low pressure turbine. The plant is being shutdown to inspect for damage. A
- followup report will be issued if significant damage is found.
The Waterford 3 startup test program is essentially complete.
The licensee does not plan to issue a press release but will respond to any media inquiries.
The state of Louisiana has been informed.
