offsite power at Waterford 3 Steam Electric Station for approximately one-half.
- ' - hour beginning at 7
- 26.p.m. CST on December- 12, 1985. The plant had been shut c down.for maintenance since December 9, 1985. The loss of power appears.to have been caused by a problem with the operation of trip function of breakers in the offsite. switch yard., A complete loss of power to the grid was experienced.
Two fossil units connected to this ring bus also tripped. The emergency diesel generators started and supplied power to vital loads as designed. All onsite

systems functioned as expected.
