SIGNIFICANT CONSTRUCTION DEFICIENCY MOTOR OPERATED VALVE - HPCI HOPE CREEK GENERATING STATION On March 15, 1985, a verbal report was made to Region I, Office of Inspection and Enforcement representative, Mr. J.

Strosnider, advising of a significant construction deficiency regarding the performance of a motor operated valve supplied by Anchor Darling. On April 15, 1985, an interim report describing the deficiency and conveying our safety analysis was submitted to your office. The following final report is provided in accordance with 10CFR50.55 (e) .

As indicated in our report dated April 15, 1985, Bechtel initiated a factory data review to ensure that the problem is isolated to the subject valve. Bechtel has advised us that no additional discrepancies were found as a result of this review.

Bechtel has issued Purchase Order No. 10855-F-61639 (Q)-SU to Limitorque Corporation to provide a replacement motor that is compatible with existing circuitry. Delivery of the motor is 8507180292 850624 PDR ADOCM 05000354 S PDR' N
