ASCO Catalog No. NPK8342B4E, 125/DC Serial Nos. 86157N1-20 Customer - Public Service Electric & Gas Co.

Gentlemen:

During the processing of the order for the 20 referenced valves',,

certain internal parts were lapped in order to reduce seat leakage.

This lapping reduced or eliminated nickcl plating in certain areas which could lead to greater than allowable seat leakage and shifting problems before the valves reach their qualified life.

Although the valves were shipped to Public Service Electric & Gas Company, they are as yet to be installed, and we have requested their return to ASCO for examination and rebuilding as applicable.

Based on the information that we have obtained, the referenced valves are the only ones which have been subjected to this lapping procedure in this manner, and thus, the only ones which are being recalled.

Very truly yours, AUTOMATIC SWITC11 COMPANY 8604040320 060331 2 PDR ADOCK 050 A
