r APPENDIX A NOTICE OF VIOLATION Exeter Township Board of Supervisors Docket No. 99990001

-Reading, Pennsylvania 19606 License No General License As a result of the inspection conducted on August 20, 1985, and in accordance with the NRC Enforcement Policy (10 CFR 2, Appendix C), the following violations were identified:

10 CFR 31.5(c)(2) requires that each device possessed pursuant to 10 CFR 31.5(a) be tested for leakage of radioactive material at no longer than three year intervals.

Contrary to the above, as of August 20, 1985, a sealed source containing 750 millicuries of cesium-137 had not been tested for leakage since October 1980 an interval of more than three years.

This is a Severity Level IV violation (Supplement VI).

Pursuant to the provisions of 10 CFR 2.201, Exeter Township Board of Super-visors is hereby required to submit to this office within thirty days of the date of the letter which transmitted this Notice, a written statement or ex-planation in reply, including: (1) the corrective steps which have been taken and the results achieved; (2) corrective steps which will be taken to avoid further violations; and (3) the date when full compliance will be achieved.

Where good cause is shown, consideration will be given to extending this re-sponse time.
