Pro. ject Action Plan '

The meeting began with a general discussion of the SWEC action plan developed to address the technical concerns related to piping and pipe support design.

SWEC discussed its pipe stress and pipe support qualification action plan (Attachment 4).

SWEC clarified the approach to be used for requalification and reanalysis of large bore piping supports. SWEC stated that all ASME Class 1, 2 and 31arge bore support designs will be reviewed. Depending on the results of the review, the existing support calculation will either be requalified to the new piping analysis loads on a load comparison basis or a new pipe support calculation will be generated. Small bore piping and supports will be requali-fled on a sampling basis. Details of the sampling process are under preparation.

The SWEC effort will be primarily based out of the New York offices although many of the other SWEC offices will be involved.

The SWEC effort includes piping and supports for both Unit 1 and Unit 2.

Although the design approach for the piping and supports in both Units 1 and 2 will be treated the same, the Unit 1 modification;, will be performed to ASME Section XI whereas the Unit 2 modifications will be performed to ASME Section III.

Walkdown Results SWEC has recently completed an as-built verification walkdown of large bore piping systems. The procedure used was provided in Project Procedure CPPP-5.

The walkdown was performed to detennine the accuracy of the dimensions and functions shown on the as-built drawings. The staff requested that SWEC review the Comanche Peak SSER fil in order for SWEC to be aware of the s findings and how they might impact their scope of work for walkdowns.

Vincent Noonan SEP 10 985 Conclusions The meeting concluded with SWEC discussing the near tem efforts to be accomplished. The piping stress analyses will commence in Septeeber and is anticipated to be in full production swing by the beginning of October 1985.

Additional field walkdowns are also planned in September for 1) small bore piping and supports and 2) reverification of the orientation of snubbers, struts and valves. The staff requested that TUGC0 advise the staff of the walkdown schedule in order to allow the staff the opportunity to participate.

The applicant agreed to notify the staff prior to the walkdowns.
