Washington, D.C. 20036 In the Matter of Gulf States Utilities Company (River Bend Station, Unit 1)

Docket No. 50-458-OLA

Dear Mr. Rudebusch:

This letter confirms our understandings related to supplementation by Cajun Electric Power Cooperative (" Cajun") of certain discovery requests propounded by Gulf States Utilities (GSU). During the October 4, 1994 prehearing conference, the  :

Atomic Safety and Licensing Board ordered that all motions to compel regarding outstanding GSU discovery requests be submitted by l Friday, October 14, 1994 (Tr. 57-58).

In its response to GSU Interrogatory 9 transmitted by j your letter of September 30, 1994, Cajun described a Comprehensive l Monitoring Program "for review by Cajun or its consultants of safety matters arising at River Bend." In response to the same  !

interrogatory, you also made available an undated document titled

" Cajun Electric Power Cooperative Inc, Comprehensive Monitoring Program River Bend."

Interrogatory 9 had requested specific information regarding any systematic plan or procedure for review of safety matters at River Bend. The interrogatory requested identification of the author of the document, the names of'anyone reviewing or concurring in such document, when it was prepared, the dates of any amendments thereto, the dates on which it was implemented, and any safety matters evaluated, discovered or dispositioned in accordance i

with such procedure or plan. This information was not provided as part of your response. You have agreed to supplement your original response to provide such information.

I In addition, Cajun's response to Interrogatory 17 ,

l indicates that additional review was still underway. You stated I that you would complete such review and provide any additional information by early next week.

Based on these understandings, no motion to compel on these matters will be submitted by GSU. 1 i

Sincerelyj j l
