Seyfrit, Director Office of Inspection and Enforcement U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Region IV 611 Ryan Plaza Drive, Suite 1000 Arlington, Texas 76011 Re: (a) STN 50-482 (b) Interim Report Transmitted via GLKoester letter to KVSeyfrit dated July 13, 1979 (c) Interim Report GLKoester letter to KVSeyfrit dated December 28, 1979

Dear Mr. Seyfrit:

The referenced Interim Significant Deficiency Reports concerning flood damaged equipment at Wolf Creek were previously submitted to your office pursuant to 10CFR50.55(e) (3) .

This letter provides an update on the status of actions being taken

^ '

with regard to the flood damaged equipment.

Many of the valves and pumps have been cleaned ar.d inspected. For most of the mechanical type items not yet processed, we now have the Vendor /AE recommendations for reworking the items to a like-new warranted condition and work on these items is expected to be completed during the next few months.

Rework of electrical items is progressing more slowly as most items must be returned to the vendor and replacement of parts or components is frequently involved. It appears that rework / replacement of elec-trical items will not be complete before the end of this year.

Cleaning of preassembled piping formations is being integrated with the welding rework, described in the report submitted by SNUPPS on November 29, 1979. This activity is just starting and like rework of electrical items, is not expected to be completed before the end of 1980.
