SUMMARY

OF AUGUST 14, 2007, CLOSED MEETING WITH NUCLEAR MANAGEMENT COMPANY, LLC (NMC), REGARDING POTENTIAL CHANGES TO PRAIRIE ISLAND NUCLEAR GENERATING PLANT, UNITS 1 AND 2 SECURITY PLANS (TAC NOS. MD6067 AND MD6068)

On August 14, 2007, a closed meeting was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and representatives of Nuclear Management Company, LLC (NMC) at NRC Headquarters, Two White Flint North, 11545 Rockville Pike, Rockville, Maryland. The purpose of the meeting was to discuss potential changes to Prairie Island Nuclear Generating Plant (PINGP), Units 1 and 2 Security Plans. A list of attendees is provided as Enclosure 1. This meeting was closed to the public due to the discussion of safeguards and sensitive security information.

The licensees presentation was based on a potential future change to PINGPs security characteristics that will require a change to the Security Plans. The NMC staff also discussed with the NRC staff the time line for the change, and the regulatory process that NMC would pursue to notify the NRC. The NRC staff discussed the general review and approval process at the agency and discussed their concerns on the presented materials. The NMC staff agreed to periodically update the NRC staff throughout projects life cycle.

Please direct any inquiries to me at 301-415-8371, or MLC@nrc.gov.
