TheK-5relaypickupanddropoutvoltagesandtheDCtrip-point oftheDClogicwillberecorded.
ResultsSummary:1.)XtwasverifiedthattheDClogicpowersuppliesarefedfromtheB-phasemaintenance supply.2.)ArapidopenandclosingoftheupstreamnormalACinputbreakertotheUPSwasdoneandtheunitdidnottriporgoonbattery.Nonoticeable effectwasseenontheUPSoutput.3.)EachinvertertripcircuitexceptDCOVwastestedandeachfunctioned asdesigned.
4.)Fasttransient tests:Withtheoldbatteries stillinstalled avoltageinterruption of100-150msecdurationwasgiventotheACinputtotheDClogicofUPS1C.TheDClogicwasinitially at19.86VDC.Theunittripped3outof4times.Thiswasdonefirstwiththeloadsonmaintenance supplyandthenalsowiththeloadsonUPSpower.Withthenewbatteries installed therewasnotripwhenthefasttransient testwasperformed 25successive times.TherewerenotripsbutarepeatedSCRshortalarmoccurredwhichisindicative ofnoisespikeswithintheunit.
page25.)TheK-5relaydropoutwasrecordedandwasfoundtobebelowthetrippointoftheDClogicpower.6.)Normaltransfers weredone,UPStomaintenance andmaintenance toUPS,withdeadbatteries andtherewerenotripsoftheUPS.Themaintenance supplywasopenedwiththeUPSfeedingtheloadsandnoUPStripsoccurred.
CONCLUSION Thistest.provesthattheDClogicpowerisfedbytheBphasemaintenance power,andthatitissusceptible tovoltagetransients onthemaintenance supply.Itmaybesusceptible toothertransients aswellbecauseitisdirectlytiedtomaintenance supply.ThetestDOESNOTprovethelevelofsusceptibility, thatis,itdoesnotprovethatthetransient wasofanysetvoltageorduration.
Thetestimpliesthatthebatteries mayhavemitigated thetripbutisnotconclusive.
Eachtripcircuitwastestedsuccessfully sonofailuretoanyoftheseoccurredthatcausedthetrip.Thefastopen/close ofthenormalACinputbreakerprovesthattheunit.wouldwithstand anACinputtransient withoutfailureorwithoutgoingonbatterypower.

WithUPS1Conmaintenance A27-S1wasopenedwithA27-CB1closed.ThelogicpowerfortheUPSwentdeadanditshouldn't have.ThisisevidencethattheUPSinternalbatteries aredead.WhentheUPSisdowntheinternallogicisfedbyarinternalpowersupplywithinternalbatterybackup.WhentheisUPSonlineanauctioneering circuitshouldpowerthelogic.Thisauctioneering circuitwasverifiedtobeworkingbyde-energizing themaintenance supplywiththeUPSrunning.Whenthiswasdonethelogicremainedpoweredup.Althoughthisisadeficiency itwouldnothavecontributed totheincidentbecausetheauctioneering circuitisworking.(WR'sarewrittentoreplaceallUPSinternalbatteries).
