In Carolina Power & Light's (CP&L) letter of January 29, 1985 (Serial BSEP/85-0091), CP&L conveyed that an update report of progress on the resolution of LER 2-83-95 would be transmitted to your office by January 31, 1986.
The accomplishments of the Fire Seal Evaluation Program to date ue:
: 1. The plant penetration seal verification / survey effort is continuing. The data collected is being used to quantify a penetration seal data base. In addition, verifications / surveys along with other efforts of the project (e.g., survey of vendors and other utilities) are being conducted.
: 2. A specification for the selection and installation of selected fire barrier penetration seals in conjunction with new fire barrier penetration seal installation detail drawings has been issued.
: 3. Currently, areas with fire barrier penetration seals which have not yet been qualified have fire watches posted in accordance with technical specifications until qualification of the penetration seal is established.
