Dear Mr. Keppler:

On September 19, 1979, Mr. J. U. Bott of Public Service Company of Indiana, Inc. (PSI) telephoned your office to notify you of a potentially reportable incident as required by 10CFR50.55(e). On October 23rd, 1979, Mr. Bott telephoned your offices and Mr. C. Williams granted an extension until today to submit this interim report. To date, Cherne Contracting Corporation (CCC) has installed approximately 600 safety-related component supports without procedural control for such installation. The work performed thus far has been in accordance with CCC's welding process sheet for NP welds and approved Sargent & Lundy h; anger design drawings.

PSI was unable to determine that this incident was not significant and therefore elected to report it as potentially significant under 10CFR50.55 (e) .

Due to the fact that PSI is currently in the process of reorganizing its QA and construction staff for Marble Hill, we are unable to make a final report at this time. The investigation as to whether or not this actually constitutes a reportable incident, and as to what corrective measures are necessary is continuing, 1249 108 %a \
