Subject:

Arkansas Nuclear One - Units 1 and 2 Docket Nos.50-313 and 50-368 License Nos. DPR-51 and NPF-6 IE Bulletin 79-01 (File: 1510.1,2-1510.1)

Gentlemen:

The following is provided as a status on preparation of our response to IE Bulletin 79-01.

Work is progressing in accordance with the Bulletin. A significant amount of data has been assembled and is being reviewed. However, due to the significant effort required to respond to IE Bulletins79-05A, 79-05B, and 79.-06B, it was necessary to divert substantiel manpower to responding to those Bulletins. As a result, some slip-page occurred in our schedule to respond to IE Bulletin 79-01.

We have reassessed our schedule for responding to 79-01 and now find that it will probably not be possible to respond by Juae 14, 1979, as required. Every effort will be made to respond as soon as possible, however, a revised schedule indicates July 14, 1979, is a realistic date for submittal of our response.

We believe you are sympathetic with our situation and have our com-plete assurance that work is progressing on Bulletin 79-01 on a top priority basis and our response will be submitted as soon as possible.

Very truly yours, h
