The purpose of the open house was to provide opportunities to discuss NRC activities, nuclear power issues, and Donald C. Cook Nuclear Power Plant performance for the 2008 calendar year with the public. The NRC letter and meeting notice for this open house can be found in the Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) as ML091270985 and ML091270993, respectively. A list of principal meeting attendees can be found in the Enclosure.
 
The open house discussed an overview of the NRCs Mission and Strategic Goals, the Reactor Oversight Process (ROP), and national ROP results. The NRC discussed other agency regulatory activities such as nuclear security and safeguards, the license renewal process, spent nuclear fuel and independent spent fuel storage installations, radiation safety, and new nuclear power plant construction and licensing activities.
