REACTOR SHUTDOWN FOR GREATER THAN 48 HOURS

The licensee completed a planned shutdown at 0107 this morning to perform maintenarhe on the main flash tank (heater drain tank) manway which had been leaking and was unable to be repaired with the plant on line, While the plant is down a drywell entry will be made to repair a . leaking feedwater isolation valve bonnet pressure seal leak, replace a failed acoustic monitor on an electromatic relief valve, and take a series of drywell shell thickness readings. Present plans are to restart Sunday (9/13/87) and place the plant back on line Monday. The licensee has issued a press release and the State of New Jersey has been informed.
