By EN 93-081 dated August 12, 1993 the Commission was notified of the intent of OE to issue a Notice of Violation and Proposed ,

Imposition of Civil Penalty in the amount of $ 75,000 to the GPU Nuclear Corporation. The action was based on five radiological controls violations.

The licensee responded to the Notice in a letter dated September 20, 1993 and paid $50,000 of the proposed $75,000. After careful consideration of the licensee's response and its arguments  :

concluded that the $75,000 civil penalty as set forth in the Notice of Violation and Proposed Imposition of Civil Penaltv is appropriate.

Accordingly, an Order Imposing Civil Penalty in the amount of .

$25,000 has been issued today. Under the terms of the Order, the  !

licensee may within 30 days of the date of the Order, pay the civil penalty or request a hearing.
