The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by OIE staff as of 8:45 a.m. on date of this notification.

UNAUTHORIZED ENTRY TO PROTECTED AREA Our Region 1 Office, Philadelphia, was informed by a news media representative that he gained access to the protected area at Oyster Creek unchallenged on April 26, 1976. He entered the Administration Building lobby which is in the protected area, before being stopped. No vital areas were compromised. Apparently the reporter entered the main gate unchallenged while guards were checking property passes and equipment.
The licensee has notified state and local law enforcement agencies.
An inspector has been dispatched to the site to investigate circumstances.
Media interest is expected because of press involvement in the event and 3.g W /
sensitivity to nuclear issues. The State of New Jersey has been informed.
A press release is not planned.
NRC, Region I, Philadelphia, Pennsylvania received notification of this occurrence by telephone call from a reporter at 2:30 p.m.
