This preliminary notification constitutes EARLY notice of an event of POSSI 3LE safety or public interest significance.
The information presented is as initially received without verification or evaluation and is basically all that is known by IE staff on this date.

Subject:
DETONATION IN AUGUMENTED OFF-GAS SYSTEM The licensee reported that at 2:03 a.m. on March 17, 1978, a detonation in the Augmented Off-Gas System (A0G) took place.
No injuries or releases occurred from this event. The A0G system was placed in service on March 15,1978 and was being tested prior to turnover to the licensee.
I No source of the detonation or any structural or equipment damage has been determined. An investigation is underway. The off* gas' system was g
returned to the basic holdup system and plant operations are continuing.
