Docket No. 50-348 ""'*"*"'SS*'"

10CFR50.55a(g)

May 27, 1987 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attention: Document Control Desk Washington, D. C. 20555 Gentlemen:

Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant - Unit 1 Second Ten Year Interval Inservice Testing Program for ASME Code Class 1, 2 and 3 Pumps and Valves Pursuant to the requirements of 10CFR50.55a(g)(4) and (5), enclosed is the Joseph M. Farley Nuclear Plant Unit 1 Inservice Testing Program for the Second Ten Year Interval of plant operation. To the extent practical within the limitations of design, geometry and materials of construction of the components, this updated program meets the requirements of the ASME Code,Section XI,1983 Edition through the Summer 1983 Addenda, which is the latest NRC approved Code edition and addenda as of December 1, 1986.

The enclosed program includes tables which if st the pumps and valves considered to be within the scope of the Inservice Testing Program. These tables are subdivided into two categories: ASME scope and augmented scope.

The ASME scope section contains those pumps or valves which are required to be designed and tested in accordance with the ASME Code and they will be tested in accordance with Section XI as described in the updated program.

The augmented scope section contains those pumps and valves which either were not required to be designed and/or tested in accordance with the ASME Code or w ere optionally designed to meet the ASME Code requirements. In either case, these pumps and valves were determined to perform a function which is important to either the safety or reliability of the plant and have been included in the updated program. In addition, Inservice Inspection Boundary Diagrams, which have been developed to show the required pump and valve tests, are included and reflect these requirements.
