SUMMARY

OF UNIT I OPERATING EXPERIENCE 3ANUARY 1983 1/1 At the beginning of this reporting period, Unit I was operating at 890 MWe with the reactor at 100% power.

1/5 At 0836, the reactor tripped as a result of initiation of Engineered Safety Features Actuation Logic A due to a short in the Containment High Radiation Monitor.

1/6 The reactor was brought critical at 0100 and the unit paralleled at 0301.

1/7 Resumed fullload operation (895 MWe) at 0000. At 1400, load was reduced to 830 MWe to investigate saltwater leakage into the main condenser. Load was increased to 890 MWe at 1710 when Indications of saltwater leakage disappeared.

1/10 1.oad was increased to 910 MWe at 0700.

1/18 Commenced reducing load at 1510 due to out of specification Refueling Water

~

Tank (RWT) boron concentration. Load had been decreased to 890 MWe at 1735 when RWT boron concentration was determined to be satisfactory. Load was increased to capacity (910 MWe) at 1920.

1/23 At 0300, load was decreased to 700 MWe for main turbine control valve testing.

Resumed full load operation (910 MWe) at 0610.

I 1/26 The reactor tripped on low steam genertor level at 0657 when power was lost to l

l the feedpump speed control The reactor was brought critical at 1405 and the unit paralleled at 1521. Load was increased to capacity (900 MWe) at 2200.

I 1/31 At the end of this reporting period, Unit I was operating at 900 MWe with the l

l reactor at 100% power.

SUMMARY

OF UNIT 2 OPERATING EXPERIENCE JANUARY 1983 1/1 At the beginning of this reporting period, Unit 2 was shutdown for its 4th scheduled refueling outage.

1/12 Completed Reactor Coolant System heat-up at 0430.

1/14 The reactor was brought critical at 1900. Commenced low power physics testing.

1/16 The unit was paralleled at 0850. The unit was taken off the line at 1230 due to plugging of the condensate start-up strainers. The unit was paralleled at 2202.

Commenced escalation to power testing.

1/17 The unit was taken off the line at 0707 for main turbine overspeed testing. -

1/19 The unit was paralleled at 1201 after numerous maintenance itcms were completed. Recommenced escalation to power testing.-

1/22 Power increase was +erminated at 540 MWe at 2220 due to main feedwater limitations.

1/23 Load was increased to 790 MWe at 1600. Poor steam generator chemistry necessitated holding at this power level.

1/24 Load was increased to 875 MWe at 1500 for core physics measurements.

1/30 Completed core physics testing at 1345, increasing to capacity. Load was increased to 885 MWe at 2100. Electrical output was limited due to moisture l

separator reheater shell drain tank dumping to the main condenser because of flouride contamination from weld slag.

1/31 The reactor tripped at 1215 following the loss of 22120VAC vital bus and partial Engineered Safety Features Actuation. The reactor was brought critical at 2210. At the end of this reporting period, Unit 2 was critical awaiting return of l steam generator chemistry to within specification.
