SUMMARY

OF OPERKflNG EXPERIENCE 1

May 1996 The unit began the month in Mode 6, refueling with the reactor head detensioned. Refueling was completed

- and the unit entered Mode 5, cold shutdown on 05/04/96.  ;

The unit entered a planned extension to the refueling outage to perform expanded Steam Generator eddy

. current inspections. The initial inspections revealed potential tube defects that required an expansion of the original scope of testing. The following significant work was completed or in progress during the month:

- Reactor Vessel refueled.'

- 11 A and 12A Reactor Coolant Pump seal replacement.

- expanded scope of Steam Generator eddy current testing.

DOCKET NO. 50-318 CALVERT CLIFFS - UNIT 2 June 14,1996

SUMMARY

OF OPERATINO EXPERIENCE ,

May 1996 The unit began the month at 100% (860 MWe).

On 05/12/96 at 2215 power was immediately reduced to 95% due to a control element assembly (CEA) being dropped during the performance of a surveillance test. The CEA was restored to the correct position and power was returned to 100% on 05/13/96 at 0300.

The unit remained at 100% power for the remainder of the month.
