following the manual trip from 100% due to a steam leak from a 2" vent line on 22 Moisture Separator'-

Reheater. Repairs were made to the affected piping and inspections were made of similar piping . Changes to .

the flow accelerated corrosion detection program are being made to include inspection of this type of piping' application. LER 98-004 dated 08/24/98 provides additional details of the actions taken. The unit was retumed to service at 0013 on 08/08/98.

SUMMARY

OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE August 1998 The unit began the month in mode 5 (cold shutdown) with repairs being made to a leak between the pressurizer and a level transmitter instrument leg. Repairs were completed and plant heatup was

- commenced on 08/04/98.

i The reactor was taken critical on 08/07/98 at 1547 and was paralleled to the grid on 08/08/98 at 0013.

The unit reached 100% power at 1700.

Power reductions were performed to conduct waterbox cleaning on 08/14/98,08/19/98 and 08/30/98.

The unit was operating at 100% at the end of the month.
