SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE Februars 1997 The unit began the month at 100% power.
An increase in reactor coolant system leakage was noted on 02/14/97 at 0330. Power was reduced and a containment entry was performed to identify the source of the leakage. A root isolation valve (IRCl41) was found to have a packing leak. The unit was removed from the grid and the valve was isolated, which eliminated the packing / seal leak. While the unit was removed from service a balance shot was added to the Main Turbine. Repairs were completed on 02/15/97 at 1750 and power was increased. The unit was paralleled to the grid on 02/16/97 at 0927 and returned to 100% on 02/17/97 at 0100.
The unit operated at 100% for the remainder of the month.

d DOCKET NO. 50-318 CALVERT CLIFFS - UNIT 2 March 14,1997
SUMMARY
OF OPERATING EXPERIENCE February 1997 The unit began the month at 100% power.
On 02/16/1997 at 2200 a gradual planned reduction in power (fuel coastdown) was commenced, in preparation for the upcomming refueling outage.
Due to the reduced cooling capacity of the main power output transformer (U-22000-22) power was reduced periodically throughout the month, as indicated below, based on the outside ambient temperature.
On 02/02/97 at 1115 power was reduced to 97%. Power was returned to 100% on 02/09/97 at 0330.
On 02/18/97 at 1215 power was reduced to 97%. Power was further reduced to 95% on 02/19/97 at 1810. Power was returned to the fuel coastdown level of 97% on 02/20/97 at 0030.
On 02/21/97 at 1639 power was reduced to 94%. Power was returned to the fuel coastdown level of 97% on 02/22/97 at 1645.
On 02/27/97 at 1930 power was reduced to 90%. Power remained at 90% as necessitated by the fuel coastdown.
The unit operated at 90% power for the remainder of the month.
