UNIT NAME Point Beach Unit 1 DATE December 1, 1993 ]

COMPLETED BY R. F.. Arnold TELEPHONE 414/755-6193 i Unit 1 operated ~at approximately 490 MWe net for the report i period. Power was reduced to 280 MWe for approximately 14 hrs to {

facilitate the repair of a steam generator feedwater pump shaft i driven lube oil pump. Turbine stop valve and cross-over steam-  ;

dump testing was also accomplished during the load reduction.

Supplement 1 to Licensee Event Report 50-266/301 93-007, L Inadvertent Emergency Diesel Generator Start And Loss Of A Station Battery Charger, was submitted. ,

i

-Analysis of oil taken from auxiliary feedwater pumps indicated a  !

I low viscosity. An investigation determined that the oil used

was from a drum that had a lower than required viscosity. It was  ;

L determined that 9 safety-related pumps had the same oil, l evaluations performed determined that all of the pumps were operable. The affected pumps were residual heat removal 2P-10A; -

safety injection pumps 1P-15A&B and 2P-15A&B; and auxiliary feedwater pumps IP-29, 2P-29, and P-38A&B. The oil has been changed in all of the pumps with the exception of P-38A&B.

Scheduled completion of these pumps is 12/10/93.

I Safety-related maintenance included:

1. Twelve fans and a disc controller board were replaced for the blue computer input multiplexer (MUX). ,
2. A new expansion joint and related support was installed on ,

emergency diesel generator (G01) exhaust piping.

3. Service water piping for emergency diesel generator (G01) was replaced between the coolant heat exchanger and the heat exchanger outlet valve because of identified pitting.
4. A 4-rotor limit switch was installed in the motor operator for the emergency diesel generator (G02) fuel oil day tank inlet second off isolation valve (FO-03931) and the water treatment l area. cooling coil inlet service water valve (SW-02817).

l-i L 5. Service water pump P-032A was replaced because of identified vibration during operation.
