STATUS REPORT FOR PRD-81/53 I. Description of the -Deficiency The present arrangement of the Standby Dieael Generator pneumatic logic is such that the diesels may inadvertently shut down under certain conditions. The Standby Diesel Generator pneumatic. logic is to be designed such that the engines will automatically shutdown on either low lube oil pressure with a 2-out-of-3 logic or high crankcase pres-sure with a 2-out-of-3 logic. However, due to the two logic lines being tied into a common line, it is possible that the engines could be shutdown on a 2-out-of-6 logic.

The plant system affected by this deficiency is System P75 - Standby Diesel Generator System. This deficiency is applicable to both Unit 1 and Unit 2.

II. Approach to Resolution of the Problem The vendor is to evaluate the condition, determine the cause and estab-lish corrective actions.

III. Status of Proposed Resolution The vendor has been requested, by our Architect / Engineer, to determine the cause, the corretetive actions, and to evaluate the condition for reportability.

IV. Reason Why a Final Report Will be Delayed The vendor has not completed the evaluation of the condition.

V. Date When a Final Report Will be Submitted MP&L expects to submit a Final Report on or before March 24, 1982.
