Subject:
10CFR Part 21 Report W. J. WOOLLEY CO. PERSONNEL AIR LOCK INFLATABLE SEALS l
Reference:
W. J. Woolley Co. letter dated September 19, 1983 Gentlemen:
i The referenced correspondence advised the NRC of a possible 10CFR Part 21 defect on inflatable door seals for personnel air locks used in reactor containment systems of nuclear power plants.
W. J. Woolley Co. identified that these seals were to be used in the following plants, and therefore, were potentially inadequate for their intended function.
Grand Gulf (Drywell Locks) l Perry (Drywell Locks) q River Bend (Drywell Locks)
South Texas (Containment Locks) l The purpose of this letter is to officially advise the NRC of the status regarding the subject 10CFR Part 21.
The W. J. Woolley Co. has completed the environmental qualification testing of a new inflatable seal design which possesses improved flexibility and strength characteristics. We have generated qualification reports for each of the plants listed above which address the results of our testing program as compared to the equipment qualification parameters specific to each plant.

1 Page 2 U. S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION March 10, 1986 As of this date, the potential problem has been reconciled with each of the respective plants.
We are presently engaged in a program for the supply of the new inflatable seals on each of the plants and should be completed with this effort by mid 1986.
We, therefore, consider the 10CFR Part 21 filed by the W. J. Woolley Co. on September 19, 1983 to be satisfactorily reconciled and, therefore, anticipate no further action relative to this subject.
If there are any further questions regarding this matter, please contact us.
Very truly yours,
. J. WOOLLEY COMPANY
