11. LASALLE COUNTY STATION: Unit I lit. DOCKET NUMBER: 050-173 IV. EVENT DESCRIPTIO!!:

On November 26 at 1958 hours0.0227 days
0.544 hours
0.00324 weeks
7.45019e-4 months
with the plant at approximately 45% power both drywell continuous air monitors (IPL15J and IPL75J) sample pumps were found to be continuously tripping off. The radiation / chemistry dept. was notified to begin their sampling once every 24 hours2.777778e-4 days
0.00667 hours
3.968254e-5 weeks
9.132e-6 months
for noble gas and particulates as per T.S. 3 4.3.1.

V. PROB 6BLE CONSEQUENCES OF THE OCCURRENCE:

Since the primary containment sump flow monitoring system and the primary containment air coolers condensate flow rate monitoring systems were monitoring leakage in accordance with T.S. 3.4.3.1, the health and safety of the public was not af fected.

VI. CAUSE:

The cause of the drywell CAM's tripping was apparently due to a leaking cross-tic valve (ICM036) and internal electronic interference. The above combination caused a high flow trip while in the auto mode.

Vll. CORRECTIVE ACTION:

The cross-tie valve (ICM036) was torqued closed approximately four hours af ter the initial trip and is presently in the process of being replaced under work request L20763 Three radiation procedures (LRP 1350-20,21,24) are currently being revised to run the monitors in the manual mode where less electronic interference problems seem to occur.
