SUMMARY

OF THE MARCH 6, 2018, PUBLIC MEETING WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC, TO DISCUSS THE U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION STAFF REQUEST FOR ADDITIONAL INFORMATION NOS. 8934 AND 8858 On March 6, 2018, representatives of the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) and NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) held a public teleconference meeting to discuss the NRC staffs Request for Additional Information (RAI) Nos. 8934 and 8858. These RAIs were issued to NuScale regarding its design certification application, Tier 2, Chapter 3, Design of Structures, Systems, Components and Equipment, specifically, Sections 3.7.2, Seismic Systems Analysis, and 3.8.2, Steel Containment. captures the summary of the topics discussed during the teleconference. The agenda and list of meeting attendees are included in Enclosures 2 and 3, respectively. OF THE MARCH 6, 2018, TELECONFERENCE WITH NUSCALE POWER, LLC TO DISCUSS NUSCALE RESPONSE TO STAFF RAIS 8934 and 8858 The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff requested this public meeting to get a clarification from NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) regarding NuScales response to staffs RAIs 8858, Question 3.8.2-13 (Agencywide Documents and Access Management System (ADAMS)

Accession No. ML17300B428) and RAI 8934, Question 03.07.02-15 (ADAMS Accession No. ML17355A678).

Regarding NuScales response to RAI 8858, the NRC staff requested NuScale to clarify its response and interpretation of the American Society for Mechanical Engineers (ASME) boiler and pressure vessel (BPV), Class 1 Components (NB), Codes that apply to defining the boundary for the valve attachment weld. NuScale agreed that the reference to NB-1132-2(g) in the response to RAI 8858, Question 03.08.02-13, was incorrect and NuScale agreed to revise/supplement its response and reference NB-1131(a).

Regarding NuScales response to RAI 8934, the NRC staff requested NuScale to clarify its response with respect to the additional hydrodynamic pressure due to fluid-structure interaction effect of the reactor pool and to provide a FSAR markup that summarizes the relevant information provided in the RAI response. NuScale representatives agreed to provide a clarification and FSAR markup in its supplement response to the RAI question.

Prior to concluding the meeting, the NRC staff also provided a status update regarding NuScales response to RAI 8858, Questions 03.08.02-4, 03.08.02-5, and 03.08.02-6.

Specifically, the NRC staff informed NuScale that questions 03.08.02-4 and 03.08.02-5 have been dispositioned as resolved-closed, and question 03.08.02-6 has been dispositioned as unresolved-closed.

NuScale also agreed to submit its supplemental response to RAI 8858, Question 3.8.2-13, within 30 days, i.e., April 6, 2018, and its supplemental response to RAI 8934, Question 03.07.02-15, within 60 days from the public meeting date, i.e., May 6, 2018.
