OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 2018, CATEGORY 1 PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION POTENTIAL PHASE 2 OPEN ITEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE NUSCALE POWER, LLC DESIGN CERTIFICATION APPLICATION The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) held a Category 1 public teleconference on November 6, 2018, to discuss technical specification potential Phase 2 open items associated with the NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) design certification application. Participants included personnel from NuScale and members of the general public.

The public meeting notice dated October 23, 2018, can be found in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems under Accession No. ML18309A155. This meeting notice was also posted on the NRC public website.

1 U.S. NUCLEAR REGULATORY COMMISSION OVERVIEW OF THE NOVEMBER 6, 2018, TELECONFERENCE TO DISCUSS TECHNICAL SPECIFICATION POTENTIAL PHASE 2 OPEN ITEMS ASSOCIATED WITH THE NUSCALE POWER, LLC DESIGN CERTIFICATION APPLICATION The purpose of this teleconference was to discuss responses to the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) request for additional information (RAIs) associated with the NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) design certification application (DCA) requiring supplemental information that will be potential Phase 2 open items and for the NRC staff to identify issues that are editorial or administrative in nature. The topics discussed were submitted to the applicant prior to the teleconference to facilitate the discussion (Agencywide Documents Access and Management Systems Accession No. ML18334A177).

a. The following is the summary of the outcome of the meeting:

NuScale stated that Revision 2 of the DCA issued on October 30, 2018, has addressed the following items identified by the NRC staff in the discussion topics:

Section I - Item 8.

Section II - Item 6.

NuScale noted that the following items are true editorials that it plans to address in the next revision of the DCA and that RAI is not needed:

Section I - Items 10, 11, 12, 14, 16, and 48.

NuScale agreed to submit supplemental information to address the following deficiencies identified by the staff:

Section I - 1, 5, 13, 15, 17, 18.1, 31, 33, 41, 46, 47.

Section II - 7.

The NRC staff informed NuScale that it will revisit the remaining Section II items and will issue follow-up RAIs as needed. The staff also noted that it has identified an additional 20 editorial items that were not transmitted to NuScale.

b. Next Step: The NRC staff will issue a new RAI to track all the the editorial items and followup RAIs to address Section 2 items as needed. NuScale will submit supplemental responses as mentioned above.
