SUMMARY

OF THE AUGUST 5, 2019, PUBLIC TELECONFERENCE REGARDING THE INITIAL TEST PROGRAM IN NUSCALE POWER, LLCS DESIGN CERTIFICATION APPLICATION On August 5, 2019, a Category 1 public teleconference was held between the U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission (NRC) staff and NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale). The purpose of the meeting was to discuss Test #107 for the Remote Shutdown Workstation as described in the initial test program of NuScales design certification application. The meeting notice was posted on the NRC website and is also in the NRCs Agencywide Documents Access and Management System under Accession Number ML19176A476. The Meeting Summary is provided as , which captures the summary of topics discussed. The Meeting Agenda and List of Attendees are provided as Enclosures 2 and 3, respectively.

DATE 08/15/2019 08/14/2019 08/15/2019 Meeting Summary Public Teleconference Regarding Test #107 for the Remote Shutdown Station in the Initial Test Program August 5, 2019 In letter dated November 16, 2018 (Agencywide Documents Access and Management System (ADAMS) Accession No. ML18320A189), NuScale Power, LLC (NuScale) submitted proposed revisions to the initial test program described in Tier 2, Section 14.2, Initial Test Program, of its design certification application. One of these proposed revisions was the deletion of Remote Shutdown Workstation Test #107.

The U.S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission staff requested that NuScale explain the basis for the proposed deletion of this test. NuScale stated that this test was removed because (1) the objectives of Test #107 are verified in other tests, (2) Test #61 for the Module Control System and Test #62 for the Plant Control System were modified to include testing of the remote shutdown workstation during factory and site acceptance testing, and (3) the displays for the remote shutdown workstation are identical to those in the main control room.

The staff asked if the isolation switches are tested. NuScale responded that these switches are tested as part of the factory and site acceptance testing of the module protection system and the functionality of these switches is also verified through inspections, tests, analyses, and acceptance criteria (ITAAC). The staff asked if the ITAAC to verify this functionality was one of the ITAAC that was rolled up into ITAAC # 1 in Tier 1, Table 2.5-7, Module Protection System and Safety Display and Indication System Inspections, Tests, Analyses, and Acceptance Criteria. NuScale responded that although this verification is not explicitly stated in the design commitment for the ITAAC, it is tested as part of the hardware testing lifecycle phase.

There was an opportunity for members of the public to provide comments and ask questions.
