g0VEMBER 1 "988 L-88-475 U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Attn: Document Control'esk Washington, D.C. 20555 Gentlemen:

Re: Turkey Point Unit: Nos. 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Supplemental Response to NRC Bulletin Potential Safet -Related Pum Loss Florida Power 6 Light letter L-88-295 dated July 18, 1988 provided a partial response to NRC Bulletin 88-4 "Potential Safety-Related Pump Loss for Turkey Point". To complete the remaining portion of 'this bulletin, the results of hydraulic instability calculations are required from the individual safety-related pump manufacturers. Due to numerous requests for similar information from other utilities, the responses from the pump manufacturers originally requested for September 1, 1988, have been delayed. It is anticipated that FPL will receive the results of these calculations and the corresponding miniflow recirculation requirements by April 1, 1989. FPL will then develop a plan and schedule for the resolution of any concerns within 30 days of receipt of the miniflow recirculation requirements. The results and schedule for resolution of any hydraulic instability concerns will be provided by May 29, 1989.
