Re: Turkey Point Units 3 8 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 & 50-251 Turbine Disc Cracks.

Florida Power tm Light has reviewed your September 29, 1980 letter requesting the results of ultrasonic testing of the Turkey Point 3 and 4 low pressure rotor discs.

The results of these inspections, performance by our turbine vendor (Iilestinghouse),

are as follows:

Turkey Point 3:

On the LP-1 rotor, one keyway indication crack was found in the number 3 disc on the governor end. The indication was .50 inches in depth.

No On indications were found in the LP-2 rotor.

the LP-1 rotor, two keyways with indications were found in the number 3 disc on the governor end. The indications were . 120 and . 180 inches in depth respectively.

On the LP-2 rotor, three keyways with indications were found in the number 2 disc on the generator end. The indications were . 126, .283, and .283 inches in depth respectively. Additionally, three keyways with indications were found in the number 3 disc on the generator end. The indications were .529,

.913, and .913 inches in depth respectively.

No bore indications were found in any of the inspected discs. Me trust this information satisfies your request.
