FLORIDA POWER 8 LIGHT COMPANY October 7, 1980 L-80-336 Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Mr. Darrel G. Eisenhut, Director Division of Licensing U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, D. C. 20555

Dear Mr. Eisenhut:

Re: Turkey Point Units 3 8 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Fire Protection SER item 3.2.2 In a letter (L-80-140) dated May 7, 1980, Florida Power 8 Light committed to designing the Turkey Point RCP oil collection system to prevent loss of operability of safety related equipment during a SSE. To meet t'his committment we have verified that the oil collection system attachments will prevent the oil collection enclosures from falling and damaging safety related equipment.

It is our judgment based on an engineering review, that these enclosures will also remain functional during an SSE. We have conducted analyses to show that the oil reservoir and oil drain piping will withstand a SSE. We feel that these measures satisfy our committment on the oil collection system.

Very truly yours, Ro ert E. Uhrig Vice President Advanced Systems 8 Technology REU/PLP/ras cc: J. P. O'Reilly, Region II Harold F. Rei s, Equi re 8010 x504&B PEOPLE... SERVING PEOPLE
