PLORIOA POWER 8c LIGHT COMPANY Nay 27, 1980 L-80-158 Office. of Nuclear Reactor Regulation Attention: Nr. Oarrell G. Eisenhut

. Acting Director Division of Operating Reactors U. S. Nuclear Regulatory Commission Washington, O. C. 20555

Dear Mr . Eisenhut:

Re: Turkey Point Units 3 and 4 Docket Nos. 50-250 and 50-251 Steam Generator Re air The purpose of this letter is to correct and supplement my letter dated March 18, 198Q to Nr. A. Schwencer in response to Nr. Schwencer's letter to me dated November 19, 1979.

In Attachment 1 of my letter of March 18, 1980, FPL responded to a number of NRC Staff questions requesting information about the full flow conden-sate polishing demineralizer system for Turkey Point,.Units 3 and 4. Those responses indicated that the effluent from the demineralizer will be high quality supernatant liquid and will be consistent 'with the terms and conditions of the existing NPOES permit for Turkey Point. In our response to guestion 9, in Attachment 1, FPL incorrectly stated .hat moni toring reports are submitted annually to the NRC on January 31st. The reports are in fact submitted annually by March 31st.

In that connection FPL has approved various plant improvements, including the* installation of condensate polishing demineralizers, which are designed to improve secondary water chemistry control for our nuclear plants. These improvements are, currently being implemented in the Company's operating nuclear power plants at St. Lucie and Turkey Point, consistent with procurement lead times and planned unit outages. These improv ments are also being incorporated into the design of the Company's nuclear oower plant which is presently under construction at St. Lucie.

In At.achment 2 to my letter apogee of March 18, 1980', FPL provided the documentation for its determination that the installation and operation of the condensate polishing demineralizers does not involve an unreviewed 1006x
