Docket No. 50-206 IE Bulletin 80-04, Analysis of a PWR Main Steam Line Break With Continued Feedwater Addition San Onofre Nuclear Generating Station Unit 1 By letter dated May 12, 1980, we provided our responses to IE Bulletin 80-04. The purpose of this letter is to (1) provide further information relative to our response to Item 1 of the Bulletin, and (2) reschedule the submittal of our response to Item 2 of the Bulletin.
Our May 12, 1980 letter indicated that information relative to Item 1 of IE Bulletin 80-04, regarding containment pressure response following a Main Steam Line Break (MSLB) was being prepared in conjunction with the request received from the Office of Nuclear Reactor Regulation (NRR) by letter dated December 21, 1979, relative to the effect of Auxiliary Feedwater System (AFWS) automation on the MSLB accident. Our response referenced previous cor respondence with NRR on the subject dated January 16, 1980 and April 29, 1980.
In particular, our April 29, 1980 letter indicated that in order to provide results as early as possible in response to the NRC request of December 21, 1979, scoping studies of the MSLB accident regarding containment pressure response, were being performed and that it was expected that these scoping studies would be completed by May 16, 1980, while the date for submit ting the complete analytical results would remain as October 1, 1980, as indicated in our January 16, 1980 letter. By letter dated April 18, 1980, we indicated that prompt notification would be made to the NRC Office of Inspec tion and Enforcement, Region V, in accordance with the San Onofre Unit 1 Technical Specifications, if the results of the scoping studies indicate a need to provide remedial actions or corrective measures.
During a meeting held in Bethesda, Maryland on May 13, 1980 with members of the NRC staff, we indicated that additional scoping study cases were being evaluated and that these cases were to be completed by approxi mately May 23, 1980.
During the meeting, we committed to provide NRR with the results of the scoping studies, including the additional cases, when they are 8o528o7'

It is our intention to also provide the results of the scoping studies to NRC Region V in partial response to Item 1 of the IE Bulletin 80-04.
A full response to Item 1 of the Bulletin will be provided by October 1, 1980, in conjunction with the submittal of the complete analytical results as indicated in our January 16, 1980 letter.
As indicated in our April 18, 1980 letter, a determination will be made concerning the reportability of the results of the scoping studies in accordance with the Technical Specifications. Our determination will accompany the submittal of the results of the scoping studies to the NRC Region V.
In response to Item 2 of IEBulletin 80-04, our May 12, 1980 letter indicated that a review of the core response due to a MSLB was being conducted and the results of that review would be provided by May 16, 1980. As part of this review, Westinghouse has provided input which is generic in nature.
Accordingly, additional time is required to review the applicability of the Westinghouse input relative to San Onofre Unit 1. It is expected that this additional review can be completed by July 1, 1980; therefore, our response to Item 2 of the Bulletin will be provided by that date.
