Dear Sir:

Subject:

Diesel Generator Reliability - Generic Letter 84-15 By letter, dated July 2,1984 (Generic Letter 84-15), the NRC requested that certain information be provided for use in determining the reliability of diesel generators at all operating plants. The Generic Letter requested that we forward the requested information to you within 90 days. The letter also stated that should Licensees require additional time to respond to the request that notification be made to your office within 45 days.

The purpose of this letter is to inform you that we will need additional time to respond to your request. We have recently started up from our eight week 1984 refueling outage. Due to the extensive engineering effects associated with this outage (ie., completion of our Environmental Qualification Program in accordance with 10CFR 50.49), we were not able to address your request until post-start-up. For this reason, we request an extension until no later than November 1, 1984. This date is approximately 90 days folllowing restart from our refueling outage.

We trust that our request for this schedule extension is deemed acceptable; however, should you have any questions regarding this matter, please contact us.

Very truly yours, 8408240004 840816 p DR ADOCK 05000271 PDR ^^=
