Gentlemen:

During the Unit 1 Refuel 7 and Maintenance Outage, a Unit 1 fire barrier LCO was .

initiated on October 21, 1990, for fire door no. 203 in the unit Reactor Building 6 and fire watches were appropriately stationed. Door no. 203 is located at fire  ;

barrier penetration seal no. R12 017. This door is the inner airlock on the 20- '

Foot elevation and provides personnel access to - the building from the unit Turbine Building hallway. The subject LCO was initiated to permit- opening the door to help prevent wear and possible damage to its seals and interlocks resulting from outage traffic.

On October 28, 1990, the seven day time frame of this LCO was exceeded, Firewatches remained stationed until the LCO was canceled on October 29, 1990.

Another LCO was initiated for fire door no. 203 on October 31,1990 for the same reason and on November 7, 1990, the seven day time frame of this LCO was also exceeded. It was determined this LCO would remain-in effect for the duration of the outage. Appropriately stationed fire watches will be maintained until return of the door to service and cancellation of the LCO.

It is expected that during the remainder of the Unit 1 Refuel 7 and Maintenance Outage, the following Reactor Building fire doors, in addition to door no. 203, ,

will be appropriately placed under LCO at various times to provide for additional outage-related traffic: Door nos. 301, Inner Airlock 50-foot northwest, and 303, Outer Airlock 50 foot southeast, door nos. 205 and 206, Mini-Steam Tunnel 23 foot,'and door no. 209. Inner Railroad 20 ft.
