' Gentlemen:

The .following- fire. protection Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) informational summary is the result of, major outaga projects being performed in

. the- Control' Building and Unit - 2 Reactor Building. Unit 1 and 2 ere in-Cold Shutdown to support the Unit outages started on April 21, 1992.

On July 29, 1992,~ fire doors (210 on the 50' elevation and 102 on the 20' elevation)' in the. Unit 2 Control Room stairwell area were declared inoperable to

aupport! Plant Modification " * ' ' -011) work to up grade fire header supports.

.This required welding leads m s run through the fire doors. A fire watch was stationed c(1 cemained in place until che doore were declared operable. During.

periods when the welding leads were not needed the doors wore closed. Tho sev6en

-day Technical. Specification Fire Barrier Penetrations Limiting Condition for Operation (LCO) expired on August 5, 1992, and requires the submission of this Special Report. The LCO was canceled and the doors were declared operable at 1400 on.Aegust 8, 1992.

On July _31,1992, the U.ut 2 Reactor Building 2f'* elevation Secondary Containment

' airlock doors were botn opened (including fire door 203). Opening these doors increasesiventilation air flow into the building and supports the-increased traffic'of a Unit outage. A fira watch was stationed and remains in place pending-restoration =of the fire door. The door ha. been open longer than the 7

- days specified by Techni::al Specification LCO, and , equires this Special Report.

The fire door will romain open to support the neeb of the -Unit 2 outage.
